Everything we have is a gift from God (James 1:17). The very breath in our lungs is something that none of us deserve, let alone can provide for ourselves. When we give we are not doing so out of obligation but out of thanksgiving.

“Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver” (2 Corinthians 9:7).
